Nuie

Nuie Bathrooms is a leading provider of high-quality bathroom fixtures, including shower enclosures, taps, vanity units, and other bathroom essentials. With a strong focus on modern, stylish, and functional designs, Nuie has built a loyal customer base and established itself as a key player in the bathroom industry.

Objective

Nuie operated solely as a brochure site, forcing customers to purchase their bathroom products through third-party retailers. This created friction in the customer journey and limited Nuie's direct relationship with their audience. The business needed an e-commerce solution that would enable direct sales while maintaining their established brand identity.

Process

Accessibility & Brand
In the initial stages of this project, we refined Nuie's existing brand guidelines to meet WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards, enhancing colour contrast ratios and typography to ensure inclusive user experiences without compromising brand integrity.

Component-First Design System

We started the design process by establishing a design system with core global components, including:

  • Foundational UI elements (buttons, icons, modals, and form controls)

  • Restructured site navigation structure with intuitive product categorisation

  • Advanced search functionality with enhanced filtering and sorting capabilities

  • Optimised product card design for better product discovery


Responsive Experience Design
We designed cohesive user experiences across 10 key pages including homepage, product listings page, product details page, shopping cart, and checkout flow. All designs were optimised for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices to ensure seamless shopping experiences across all touch-points.
